Macau Casinos

There are a few hotels that still provide a clean modern aesthetic that give relief to the senses amidst the noise and glitz of the Casinos.  I appreciate this relief but thought that it would be more fun to share the energetic elements that make this into an a playground for adults.  Hope you enjoy the pictures.

California dreaming

Now that we have had some warm sunny days and we start to venture out again, we are exposed to the beautiful details that abound in California.  Here are a few fun shots out and about...enjoy the sunny weekend!

Stormy CA sky

The thunder hit just before the rain came in and the sun was still shining on the front side of the cherry tree outside our office.  Took a couple quick snapshots on my iPhone before the skies opened up... The contrast of the grey sky and the white blossoms was so beautiful. I see a future interior scheme.

India Stone Yard

It may sound odd, but I love visiting stone yards to look at the beautiful slabs of specialty stones.  The one of a kind artwork that nature creates is amazing.  I am always inspired by the colors that are created by the earth.  Here are a few of my favorites from my latest visit.

Sunday Brunch at the Four Season's Mumbai

We had a lovely brunch at the Four Season's Mumbai in San-Qi which specializes in Japanese, Chinese, Thai and Indian cuisine.  Indian Brunch does not start until 12:30 but runs until 4:00.  After a week here I am getting used to the fact that all the dining cycles start much later than back in the states.  It was a great meal that I was able to share with a friend and colleague.

JUST OPENED: Leela Palace Chennai

It is always amazing to be one of the early guests of a newly opened hotel.  Especially a luxury property.  They took care in trying to stay clear of guests while they completed final details such as silver leafing the lobby lounge coffers.  It is a very ornate property with floral arrangements that abound each with hundreds of roses tightly packed into the sculptural arrangements.

Park Hyatt Chennai

My first evening in Chennai was at the Park Hyatt in Chennai.  Recently opened, it has a clean modern design aesthetic that I am quite partial to.  The artwork throughout the property is quite beautiful. And best of all it was designed by a good friend of mine.

Sthalasayina Perumal Temple, Mamallapuram, India

I was able to visit the stone Hindu temple with a Client.  It was quite an amazing place.  This was my first visit to a Hindu temple so I was a bit worried about doing anything to cause my friend embarrassment, but I believe I made it through unscathed.

The cows were outside the temple gates, but I thought the glow of the colorful festival lights was so interesting.  I did not take pictures inside the temple out of respect for the worshippers.

DakshinaChitra, Muttukadu, India

I was able to visit DakshinaChitra which is a center for the traditions of art, craft and architecture of India with an emphasis on the traditions of South India. The center overlooking the Bay of Bengal, at Muttukadu, twenty five kilometers south of Chennai.  It was beautiful to see all the variety of homes from around the regions that had been pain-stakingly transplanted into one location to share the wealth of craftsmanship in the homes.  I took just a few detail pictures with my iPhone as we found ourselves so focused on the intricate maze of rooms and houses.
